    Default 180/182 Wheel Gear

I have a 1960 180 on EDO 2960s. I have been looking for some wheel gear for it (it has been on floats since 1965). A friend of mine has a 1959 182 on EDO 2870s, and tells me that the 182's tricycle mains will work on my 180, and he's happy to lend, so don't waste my money buying 180 gear. Can that be right?
