    Default Upcoming training classes

The Fairbanks Retriever Club's "spring" training classes are tentatively scheduled for Feb. 23rd through May 10th. The classes will start indoors in a heated horse arena, and will move outdoors in April. Classes are to help people learn to train their own retrievers for hunting/hunt tests/field trials, held weekly with homework needed in between, and we also try to have a lot of fun! Topics covered include fundamental concepts, terminology, equipment, resources available, obedience, socialization & working with other dogs around, the do's & don'ts of being a "gunner", and of course retrieving. Retriever breeds from puppies to adults, as well as handlers of all ages are welcome, but dogs must be healthy & have current vaccinations. AKC registration is not required, but dogs should be of retriever breeds as that's what the classes are geared for. For insurance purposes, FRC membership is mandatory. When details & the class fee are finalized, the information & online registration will be posted at http://www.fairbanksretrieverclub.org/index.html

Default re: First class is Feb.23rd

First class is Saturday, Feb. 23rd:

There are two basic training classes this year. The first is at 9:45 a.m. and the second is at 11:15. Both classes are BASIC training classes and will cover essentially the same material. There will not be an intermediate or advanced class this year. If your dog is solid in basics and ready for intermediate work, you may still enroll in the class as a refresher/socialization course. If we see your dog is ready for more, we will talk to you individually about training and techniques you can incorporate into your training program.

The first class will be a sign-up/orientation and WILL NOT include dogs. If you have not signed up and/or paid for the class yet, this will be the time to do so. Class participants will need to be a CURRENT member of FRC.
