photos of replacing roof and foundation on log cabin
Here are links to albums of replacing the roof and foundation on my Grandparents cabin over the last two years. I don't know exactly when he built it, late 60's early 70's. Grandma and Grandpa built it after he retired in his 60's. I'm amazed the roof never caved in, though we would shovel it once or twice a winter, that was back when we used to get snow around here.
We're thinking about refinishing the logs. Any pointers? Or just wash them and leave them be?
It would be nice to reinsulate the floor, it has the same thing the old roof had. And it has been through a flood or two. But it doesn't get used too much in the winter.
Looks like you folks had quite a project. Are you from Salcha?Do you know a guy named Mike Lenze?Met him hunting years ago.GR
It was quite a project, but went very well. We had been talking about doing it for a few years before it all came together. I think Grandpa would be proud to see us taking care of it.
I don't think I know Mike Lenze. Our family is from Fairbanks. The cabin is on the Salcha River.
