Why not hear from nonresidents in this poll? What's the point in "residents only"?

I'm not sure if this was his thinking, but it would certainly skew the results. There would be far more "hunt sheep only" answers if you included non-residents.

Incidentally, what are you getting at, tv321?

    Default Reason

Can we all agree that if nothing is done, sheep hunting in Alaska will be going to "draw only"? I don't want this.

What would happen if we changed the start date of sheep season to Sept 1st?

I think most hunters would have to choose to either hunt moose or sheep resulting in fewer sheep hunters.

Sheep hunters may still be able to hunt sheep without restrictions.

I am just trying to think outside the box. I really don't have the answer and from what I seen on the BOG proposals neither does anyone else.

If we don't do something today our kids might not be able to go sheep hunting in the future.

I'd sure like there to be a solution that has minimal impact on resident hunting opportunity. For at least myself, this would greatly impact my hunting in that way.

That's a pretty wild idea, but if it would keep the state from having to go to a draw or 1/4 years, I would most certainly support it.

You left out the option, "I don't hunt sheep but I do hunt other species."

The number show that we alaskan's sure love to hunt. So if the sheep season start date was changed from 8/10 to 9/1 how many would still hunt sheep?

Something has to give! We either start expecting more from Fish and Fish or we are going to have to lower the numbers of hunters on both sheep and moose hunting.

My thought is if 100 people hunt sheep and the same 100 hunt moose and we change the start date for sheep to 9/1, I believe the resident hunting pressure for both sheep and moose would drop by 50%.

I would rather see Fish & Fish earn back the word "GAME" and start managing resourse instead of people. This will not happen unless we "hunters" start making a bigger stink!

I'd hunt sheep instead of moose in a heartbeat.
