    Default Sony

Get one of the new Hyprids. 30gb hard drive and it will recond onto sd cards as well. Work fantastic! I bought one for our first raft trip, its small and easy to use. The video that it recorded was incredible!!

Bad news, sorry to hear about the burglary. I hate it when that happens

Sounds like you need to invest in a scatter gun. I will try to get to Best Buy today and will check out what's new in the video world.

Just bought the wife a Canon DC230. Consumer reports best buy for mini DVD models. 35x optical zoom, only like 1.1 pounds (very small and compact). You can also take photo stills and put them on a mini SD card. Camera accepts DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD-R DL so you have a lot of options with media. The hybrids would be nice but the only trouble (besides they are WAY more expensive than the mini DVD models) I see with the hard drive units is that you HAVE to go through your computer to get your vids on a DVD. Now if you want to go MiniDV, which is on its way out but is cheap, the canon ZR800 is another consumer reports best buy and also very small/compact.
