    Default polaris SKS vs. RMK?

can anyone tell me the difference between the SKS and RMK models???
it seems the RMK is a bit more popular out there...

looking for a used sled 600-700cc, relatively light, and dependable for trails and breaking powder... and possibly towing trailers or skiers...

The SKS was more of a trail sled. It has a wider ski stance, typically a shorter and smaller paddle track (121" - 136" x 1" - 1 1/4") and doesn't include the altitude compensating system (not really needed for 90% of the riding up here).

The RMK's are set up for mountain and deep powder riding. Narrow ski stance (for easier turning in powder), long/aggressive paddle tracks, etc...

    Default Gearing too

Also, the gearing is a bit different. I have an SKS that Hatchers Pass polaris made into a RMK by reducing the gearing. The SKS models have the adjustable width on the skis, which essentialy makes it an RMK if you narrow the front end up.
My track is a 141" and the RMK's are also available in a longer track than this as you guys have stated.

thanks for the info... sounds like the RMK is the way to go and would be an easier sled to put up for resale in the future...

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
