    Default Tundra Trucks III

Or, is it Tundra Trucks IV

Which ever it is, the long awaited "fine" is starting to reach the public. A public awareness seems to be part of the settlement. Final and total settlement is supposed to be released on Dec. 3rd.

I'll be interested in seeing what the outcome is Dave, but I almost wish this was a "read only" thread & nobody could post on the subject. I don't think we need another 10 page bashing party, & it is that time of year.....

    Default Hopefully

Hopefully it will not turn into a bashing. Seems that the first part of the sentence will prove to be embarrasing to the guys having to do public awareness. They have certainly paid a lot of money in just retrieving the vehicles. I am sure though that many will feel the final fines are: too high, too low or something else.

    Default Closure

is good. You and I know that the folks that they work with know who they are and they and others (I hope) have learned a very valuable lesson.

Trucks on the Tundra and else where off road causes a lot of trouble. That's what happened on the Rex Trail, trucks running everywhere. Even on the Military land, near Blair Lakes.

    Nice Tundra Truck AlaskaCub.
If you have time send me a PM with your experience so far. I keep telling myself that is my next ride if I care to have a heart attack over the price.

    Frank
The Crewmax back seat was HUGE, but it isn't offered with a 6.5ft box, only the shortie. Couldn't do the shortie bed. Power is crazy with this 5.7L, its like a 4wd Nascar truck. Lots of room in the Double Cab and other than a few first year bugs of which i only have a couple of, its a bad azz truck. The Dodge was getting ready to empty my checkbook in many ways.

I am anxiously awaiting to hear the outcome of this. I don't particularly care to hear about them bashing the military guys though. As with most guys new to Alaska and the constant rotation of new guys coming in to our military bases it is a good idea to educate though.

I know when I moved here it was tough to learn all our hunting laws. Our regs are tough to figure out so awareness never hurts.

Yeah I think these guys were dipsticks but am proud of them for serving our country.

I dunno, seems to me that these guys have been punished enough.....mostly by thier own poor jugement and desicion making skills. 6 months is a long time to be without your truck! Not to mention the scorn and ridiqule that was no doubt inflicted upon them by thier buddies. Add the requirement for "restitution and edjucation" and I think its pretty well covered. As for the tundra, within a year or two I would bet you couldnt tell anything had been damaged. They did something stupid, they got busted, they got punished, the public got "edjucated", case closed......lets move on shall we.

Default Why not a Chevy or a Ford?

Them trucks are superior, aren't they, over the Japanese models?

I seriously doubt that. No, it won't ruin the ecosystem, but the visual scars will the there for a long time. Up in Ship Creek you can see tracks across the tundra that are over 30 years old. That land does not cover damage quickly.

I think that remains to be seen. Toyota's small trucks seem to go forever. I've heard way more stories of Toyotas with 400,000 miles on them than Chevys or Fords. Still, Toyotas eem to cost 20% more for a similar vehicle and they don't make a diesel model (to my knowledge), so I'll be looking at an American-made truck in a few years when it's time to retire my Dakota.
