    Default foxes

What would be the best sets for foxes on Kodiak? Would snaring be the answer or would I try legholds at a bait set? What type of location would be the best for a bait set? any help is appreciated.
    thanks,

    Default snaring

Snaring is PROBABLY going to be your best bet. you get alot of freeze thaw conditions there right? freeze thaw conditions are TOUGH on footholds, as are large amounts of snow. If you can snare it is much easier to keep your sets working, if you get lots of snow you can simply raise them up etc... When I was trapping with footholds on nunivak I was only using footholds because of the lack of willows or brush to snare in. And let me tell you what, footholds were a PAIN in the freeze thaw conditions.

A major factor in that decision is how long it will be between trapline checks. A dead fox in a snare in 40 degree temps may not last long. You coatal guys have a whole different scenario than the interior boys.
Life is short........spend it wisely and hunt sheep.
