    Default Rabbits

Went out for rabbits today as the snow was starting to fall. Man does that powder make them stand out. I saw about 10 times the rabbits I normally see. They are still dark on their backs.

I will be going soon as I get my jeep back from the shop. Too much more snow and I will be walking alot farther than usual. I hope to get ten times more than I usualy do...let me see that is 10x0=0 yep that is a reasonable goal.

0 for 11 now I am going to try and get out earlier. I hit the mountain at 9 and didn't get into the good areas until 1030 I saw tracks like crazy and found were some were under a big rock but didn't find any out and about. What time are you "successful" hunters getting out?

    Default Snowshoes

Went today and bagged six bunnies, just before dark, tracks everywhere, along with fox and lynx sign. Looks like my trapping season will be good this year.

    Default Way to get rabbits

Use a beagle. Our beagle Tank makes hunting rabbits a lot more fun. We are heading out tomorrow so hopefully I can post a photo.

well no rabbits but managed to get my jeep stuck trying to drive in the dark. Maybe I should give up hunting and take up ice fishing or scrap booking... Luckly my wife is back to her alaskan roots and had no trouble driving my pickup up the snowy trail and yanking my hind in out of the big rut that was trying to claim the jeep. Maybe it's time to invest in a locking diff it's hard to be the man of the house when your wife has to come drag you out of trouble. When I get over the embarassment I might have to head up to cantwell or delta. She allready told me she won't go that far to rescue me so I better be real carefull...

Can't believe it has been a difficult year to find rabbits.

It's not. You just need to know where to go. I'm going to my spot this weekend and I'll post some pics.

I'm wondering if the problem is how you're hunting rather than where? Or perhaps it is a combo of each.

Thanks Matt! I got a couple today I am learning how to get them now. We started out and got three out of the area you recommended Then a friend called and wanted to take us to a little spot he knows about that gets no preasure. The bunch of us got 11 more before the end of the day. Sorry I am sworn to secrecy on the new spot. My buddy hunts rabits will a decked out AR15, I witnessed him shoot a running rabbit in the head at 25yds today so a secret his spot will stay! The biggest thing I needed to do was take the shot! I was waiting for the perfect shot and it never presented itself. Finally I realized I was using a SHOTGUN and that close was good enough, I knocked more holes in the forest than I did in rabbits but it was a ton of fun and I started connecting.
