    Default 500 S&W handi-rifle

    I now have a 500 mag handi-rifle.

Shot a few loads in it today.

    400 grain sierra

    38 grains h110 = 1779
    39 grains h110 = 1860
    40 grains h110 = 1896

    34 grains lil-gun = 1752
    35 grains lil-gun = 1829
    36 grains lil-gun = 1898
    37 grains lil-gun = 1926

    ------------------------------

    hornady 500 grain XTP

    28 grains lil-gun = 1510
    29 grains lil-gun = 1545
    30 grains lil-gun = 1589

    33 grains H110 = 1548, 1577

    ---------------------------------

Also loaded some muzzle loader sabots.
These are the .452 250 grain sst for the 50 cal muzzle loader. 45 grains H110 for 2400 F.P.S.

these loads are for information only.always work up.

How was the accuracy with the Handi rifle? How was it with the sabots? Inquiring minds need to know!

Sounds really good. I've always been more interested in the round for rifles than handguns. Fun to think about a repeater of some sort. I'm guessing anything that will cycle a 50-70 will do the same with the 500.

I just got the rifle yesterday and have not shot it for accuracy. Figure I could hit quarters with it at 25 feet with any of the loads.

If I can find my dang screwdrivers I would put a scope on it.

As for repeaters I guess wild west guns makes a lever action in 500 S&W

also loaded some barnes 375 grain xpb

    35 h110=1757
    36 h110=1838
    37 h110=1859
    38 h110=1878

looks to me like 36 grains is max with not much gain in velocity from more powder. There was no signs of high pressure with any of the loads.
