Thumbs up 1st FLOAT HUNT 2007

Did my first float hunt this year and it was a blast to say the least .
Sure learned a lot in those short 10 days .
I am already planning for next year .
There was two of us and we both had Pro Pioneers with oar saddles and the rafts preformed flawlessly and we put them through the test on 120 river miles .
We did not connect on any game . Seen some beauties form the air . It looked like they had sheets of plywood for antlers !!!!
You would of thought we were in a zoo with all the bear, moose and caribou tracks everywhere .
Here is one picture of the first creek we started out in . Can you say shallow !!!!
That creek did have some Grayling that ended up on the plate for our first meal on the trip.
I will add some more pictures tomorrow .

That was our thought also !!! It was not long maybe 3-4 miles it got deep pretty fast but that thought went to the wayside after we went over the beaver dam then back to small water again !!!!!

    Default nice pictures

We just did our first float as well and learned alot. We did get a couple of caribou but no sights of moose. Our water was very low as well and i think that if we would have been successful we would have been stranded. I'm a little curious that you didn't unload to go over the ****. I think that I would have been scared about putting a hole in the raft.

There was two of us to get it over the Dam .
The bottom of the Pro Pioneers are just almost bullet proof .
We were not able to go over this log jam !!!
Can you say PORTAGE . It took about three hours to get all our gear and rafts through the woods and onto the creek again.

    Default Good deal!

Thanks for posting the report on your hunt. There will only be one "first float hunt", and I'm glad yours went well. Great memories! Looked like pretty skinny water at the beginning!

    Best regards,

    Mike

Yep the water at our put in was skinny for sure .I think the beavers even had a hard time moving around !!!!!
It did deepen and get wider the further we went . Yes this was a great hunt and a lot of memories were made even not tagging a Bull it was still a very nice hunt.
The upper creeks had a few challanges but not to hard at all .
I am already planning for my next hunt . I am hooked on float hunting .
Just wish I knew more rivers !!!!!
Here are some very nice evening pictures .
    Enjoy

    Nice pics Rick!!
Looks like you had a great time. Glad you enjoyed it. A float hunt (other than local canoe trips) is still on my "to do" list.
Looks like the PP did a good job for you too.
