    Default 2 stroke oil suggestion

I recently purchased a 2 stroke 15 horse merc. Just wondering what you guys might suggest as far as what type of 2 stroke oil to run in it. Thanks

    Default yamy or omc

I have been using the omc oils for over 20 years. Mixed in occasionally I have used Yamaha oil too. Both brand are natural, not synthetic. When I pre-mix for my older 88omc I mix at a ratio of 60:1 or 70:1. 50:1 is ultra conservative, and you can actually mix as lean as 100:1 but that is pushing it. At 100:1 there may not be enough oil to coat the cylinders during long periods of inactivity.
For what I do, I have not seen a real advantage to synthetics, though I know they really do work well. I guess mainly I have been avoiding the cost increase. I do use products to remove carbon buildups and run avgas too to help keep the engines clean.
