    Default Caribou Antlers

When does antler development cease on Caribou? In other words, is there a noticeable difference in antler size between July and August?

Yes, there is a noticeable difference. Antler growth takes place in a few short months, and in some cases they will add multiple inches/week to their beam length. I don't know specifically when it stops, but I would guess sometime around the 2nd week of August, immediately prior to the velvet peeling off.

Thanks, I kinda like the antlers on caribou when they are in velvet. Plus the bulls are fatter and I think the meat tastes better.

Mature caribou bulls will put on fat into sept. Losing their velvet has no effect on their fat buildup. Possibly when they start a serious migration they may lose some fat.
I'm skeptical you can taste the difference between an aug. bull and an early sept. bull.
