Thread: 3 or 4 brow tines???

Default 3 or 4 brow tines???

Ok so to possibly end the camp debate this fall is this a point or not on this moose. It measured 57" across so it wasn't a legal thing just wondering if F&G would count this as a 4th brow tine or not.

    Default bad angle...

Hard to tell from that angle, but it looks like it probably is (although I wouldn't shoot until I had a better view of it if 4 was needed). Basically, it has to be at least 1" long and longer than it is wide to be counted.

is the point 1" long and longer than wide? with the width maesured 1" or more from the tip. if so it is a tine or point. this info came from page 30 of the hunting regs.
    Hope that helps.

I believe the regs say if it measures at least 1" long and measures at least 1" across it counts. Just from memory.
I can't tell from the Pic.

With that view, I'd say it would be counted as a brow tine.

Have seen AF&G use a 1" long piece of 1" diameter pvc.

Simply slide it over the tine/spike in question. If it peaks past the pvc its good.

(wish we could have tranquilized a couple bulls we seen and used the pvc )

I believe that if it measures or exceeds the 1" X 1" rule you are good to count it. Essentially longer than it is wide. Don't quote me though. The reg says a tine emerging from the first branch. But then has a little drawing out to the side the talks tine length.

I would say it is a shooter in a 4 brow tine area if I was not sure of the width. What was the actual measurment of the tine? Was it a tine IAW page 30 of the regs?

Hey I thought that thing was 54"!! Anyways, that tine is pretty fat at the base but judging from the guys hands it would probably make it in my book. The real question from this angle might be where does that brow palm start. Is it after the little tine in question or further up? That would definitely be a 3 or 4 thing regardless of tine length.

I'd say it would count as a brow time point only because of it's length so i'd take him using that rule.
