Default 35 mm slides to digital format?

I'm interested in having digital photos made from some old 35mm slides. Is there a commercial service out there that does this?

Lots of places do this. Here is a google page listing several. Press the "NEXT" button near the bottom of the page for more options. Looks like $0.40 to $0.50 for each slide is the going rate.

If you have a lot of slides, and the time to process them, you could save money by buying your own slide/negative scanner to do them yourself.

    Default thanks Jim...

That will get me started. It's a bit more expensive than I anticipated but I'll look into the scanner options as well.
