    Default POW kayak fishing

My neighbors in Chokoloskee, FL. where I spent a couple months kayak fishing introduced me to POW. Before the magazine about the island I knew nothing about it but now I'm very interested.

I'd like to know the feasibility of taking my truck and travel trailer, along with a bunch of kayaks up there for a summer. My research has shown that there are a few campgrounds available. I'm interested in both fresh and saltwater fishing, especially saltwater and if it'll be kayak accessible. Any info would be great.

We have done the drive from California, it took three days counting time on the ferry. There are campgrounds but the great thing is that its all national forest land and along the road system you can camp in many of the quarries. Most are nice and dry and level. The great thing is, with the quarries everywhere you can setup camp just about anyplace on the island within the road system. Lots of freshwater fishing available, many with easy kayak access. I usually hang out on the north part of the island and I know of quite a few of the bays that are kayak accessable right to the ocean (red bay comes to mind) but I don't know about the fishing opportunities there.

When we drove up we took a 4x4 truck. We decided to never drive again. Earlier this month when we were there we did fish, but just freshwater stream fishing for salmon. Everything was catch and release but there was nonstop action.
