    Default Kowee Creek

My buddy and I went out to Kowee today and fished off of both sides of the meadow...

We saw not one silver in the stream, nor did we see anyone catch any.

On the way back up the trail, we passed a fisherman headed to the mouth that told us he had "slapped the water" for hours the preceding day without a strike, but, that he had seen seals throwing salmon around right in front of him... so, they are staging for the run it seems!

Then we saw another guy who said he and his friends took 5 yesterday not more than 1/4 downstream of the bridge.

Then we came across a BEAUTIFUL lady who was all alone (God's truth) fishing off of a log that jutted out into the creek. She was wearing shorts, and Xtra-Tuffs. We chatted with her for a bit and then took off.

As the saying goes, a bad day of fishing beats a good day at work.

    Default PS

Lots of bear tracks of both species on the sand bars and in the mud.

    Default Same story

Those are the same reports I've been hearing too. One person say Cowee is loaded with fish, and the next person to go out says there isn't a fish in sight. I've heard more about no fish and only a few people see to have found the hole or two the is holding fishing right now. I bet the story changes on saturday.

    Ever read the River Why?

How was the water clarity? The saltchuck is dead all of a sudden, unless you like catching a ton of dollies on small poppers... The fish sitting out front of peterson won't hit anything... And if fish are in the montana canyon chances are they are old kings. How was the water clarity at cowee?

Monkey: The water was still running deep from the preceding rains, and it was pretty silty. I thought that after the second day of pure sunshine, that might have changed.

Boater: I concur. I think the silvers are staged and that there have been a few small movements, but a strong run could happen at any moment.

I had one on today near the bridge.... using an orange Vibrax. But, aside from a few okay reports, most people are still getting skunked that I talked to.

Did not see anyone using roe today.

Lung: Brown bear tracks beyond the meadow where it has been posted no hunting. I saw a set near that little logging operation and another set downstream a bit from the tram. Could have been the same bear.

Right at the meadow... it is a new sign this year. At least I'd never seen one there before.

Just says "Private Property - No Hunting."

There are quite a few signs like this popping up in the area. I notice a "No Trespass sign up on Fish Creek Rd. now.... which really interferes with some of my grouse hunting. And, worse than that, I see tour buses parked in that lot! I think they have dog sleds or some silly thing down there.

Deer hunting - According to the weather channel tomorrow is supposed to be better than Wednesday. Can you go tomorrow?

Monkey... hunting OR fishing you are invited anytime. You just have to be able to invest the time.

    Lung... we're on for tomorrow.

Its always worth heading to the alpine, if not for the deer than everything else... I just had an idea on where to hunt though. Good luck tomorrow

So much for Kowee Creek and any semblence of fishing in the FISHING forum...

It is all good.... top to bottom.

But, if I were Monkey, I'd be hunting close to a coed's freezer.

Looks like I'll be "fishing" DIPAC myself!

Apparently my dad is busy in Seattle promising everyone he sees some smoked salmon.

    DIPAC here I come!

put some fish in my freezer today, it was embarrassing but had to be done, too bad there isn't a personal use gillnet fishery here, that'd be way more fun than snagging down at dipac...
