    Default Juneau Fishing

Im headed to Juneau for work in the next few days and thought about throwing my fishing pole in. It there anything worth fishing that is drivable from town? I have never been there. Not sure if there is a run of Silvers down there or not. Any info would be appreciated.

    Default Silvers

The silvers actually run in sep and oct around here so there are plenty in the rivers. There's a few creeks along the road system as well as the hatchery. Feel free to PM me I can give you some advice on Juneau fishing.

Silvers are scarcer in Juneau than kings are in the Kenai... Almost
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

How can you sleep at night telling lies like that Pat? I caught one 3rd cast last sunday. They're around, you just need to right approach.

Splintered my 6 wt on a 20 pound coho at Peterson Creek Salt Chuck over the weekend. Split in three places but I got the fish. He sure was tasty.

I've still hooked more Kenai kings than Juneau silvers...

It would be worth your time to bring a pole for some silvers. There are not as many fish as other locations and there are alot of people fishing but it is worth the effort. If you need some specific details send me a pm. Most fishing locations are pretty well known.

Maybe sometimes you should refrain posting at all if don't have any relavant info to offer. The guy just wanted to know if it is worth while to fish here. Based on your response, the guy might have missed out on a decent opp. to catch a silver. We all use this forum to pass on info and stories to one another and some of your posts are really counterproductive.

    Are you the pilot?

When I worked on the powerline our pilot used to drop us off... and then go fishing til we called him to pick us up.

    Unhappy Fishing the Area

Definitely give the fishing a try. Im' no expert in the area or any area for that point, but it is some gorgeous water and good people. Not only are there fish to be had the area is beautiful. Catch a silver or some dollies and enjoy the outing.

Pow Monk. the area has lots of fish and I've only done it three times.

    Default Good time.

I flew this morning and got the job done. This afternoon I went out to Montana Creek and had some success. I caught two nice silvers. I smashed my barbs down first and let them go. It was a great time. A little rainy, but hey it is Juneau.

    Soggy,

Im not a Pilot, I just play one on TV . Just kindding I work for UAF and need to charter a helo to get to some our or remote sites.

It is raining on one side of my house, and sunny on the other. I'm going to assume that this means there is going to be a break in the weather. So, I think I'll take a drive out the road and see if any of those silvers have pushed up into Kowee.

    Default Mouth

I went to the mouth. I was the only person there, but it was also really windy and rainy. I guess thats why they make rain gear right. I was also told by a local that you can snag all you want down on the beach near the hatchery. I didn't try it, but maybe next time.
