    Default Caribou 2008

I am looking into planning a Caribou hunt for 2008. My two choices so far are out of Kotzebue or with 40 Mile out of TOK. I have seen several horror stories about Kotzebue and dont know much about 40 Mile. Does anyone have any additional choices I should be looking at? Any thoughts on Kotzebue or 40 Mile? Thanks

You could also consider hunting the north side of the Brooks Range with Deltana Outfitters. I don't have any personal experience with them, but have read many positive reports here on the forums. The bulls up there can be quite spectacular, and the terrain is awe inspiring.

We're in the same boat; we're planning on going for a caribou drop-hunt (or possibly deer and registration goat on Kodiak) in either '08 or possibly '09. Besides those two areas, we were considering hunting the Mulchatna herd with either Papa Bear Adventures out of Bethel, or with Trail Ridge Air out of Anchorage, or possibly out of Aniak, but I don't know of any air taxis out of Aniak. I'd rather avoid Kotzebue, as it sounds like a total zoo up there. We're looking for an area to get a little separation. Are you looking for a float hunt or a drop off?

According to their website, 40 Mile will only put a limited number of hunters in the field.
