Default Too early for black bear?

Looking at headin' down the Kenai penninsula near seward for a little black bear hunting/glassing this weekend.

What do you guys think? Too early? Wait another couple weeks? Or will the bears be out?

    Thanks,

    Jon

They'll most certainly be out on the berry patches, but their coats will only get nicer as the fall progresses. An October bear will likely have a bit nicer fur, but they should be pretty nice by now. Besides, if you start hunting now you can be more picky about which bear you take (and you might just luck into a legal bull moose while bear hunting as well!)

    Thanks Brian,

I'll be headin' down there this weekend.

Just seeing one would be great!!!!
....I don't know what I'd do if I could actually become "picky"....

    Thanks again,

    Jon

Seward was beautiful this weekend. If you don't see any bears you could probably hook some silvers if you go to Resurrection Bay. If I had the time to do it, I'd be out there lookin' for blackies too! It'll be a week or two for me.

How far in are the silvers? Beach-fishable yet??

Me and my buddy are gonna head down on Saturday morning and glass most of the day....either we get a bear, a fish, or some miles towards my next oil change....

Either way it's always good to get outside.

Thanks for the info guys! I really appreciate it
