    Default Any word on sand lake pike fishing?

    I plan on renting a canoe this weekend and try my luck at some pike fishing. any word on how its been or what lures i should use

    I have yet to catch a pike there in about 100 or more hours of effort. The rainbows are dwindling as well but are there and can be caught trolling.

    I'd wait for first ice.... The a guy should be able to get some nice ones out of there.

    well ill be bored and thats about the only lake in anchorage, i have been able to catch any pike in. What lures do you think would be good at this time?

    They are in there. Pulled out 4 ranging from 11-20" earlier this week. Later in the evening was definitely better.

    Default Access Locations

    Access Directions from ADFG.
    Walking Access:
    New Seward/Dimond Blvd. Exit. West on Dimond Blvd. 3.7 miles to Jewel Lk. Rd. Right on Jewel Lk. Rd 0.9 mile to trails available on north and south end of Sand Lake Elementary to Municipality of Anchorage Park currently being upgraded. Continue 0.2 mile to Caravalle Dr. Left on Caravelle Dr. 0.1 mile to foot trail on left to lake, street parking.
    Alternate/Canoe Launch access:
    From New Seward/Dimond Blvd. Exit. West on Dimond Blvd. 4.2 miles to Sand Lk. Rd. Right on Sand Lk. Rd. 0.7 mile to 80th Ave. Right on 80th Ave. 0.5 mile to canal access providing canoe access with limited parking.
