    Default Steese scouting and caribou

Well, we're headed up to the happy hunting grounds today (moose) to have a look around, burn some gas in the quads and see if we can see any caribou while we're at it. I'll give a report on sunday. Looks like the weather will be nice this weekend. If nothing else it will be great to get out. Sure would be nice to stumble across a blackie in the blueberry patch!

    Have a great weekend all!

Last year there were guys pulling caribou out all over up there on sleds. So I would say yes they are up there in the late season.

    Default Last Year

Last year we took two Bou and a grizzly of the north side of the Steese on Labor Day. Went back this year for opening weekend and did not see a thing. Talked to the miners out there and they have only seen a few bou this year.

Yup, same thing with us. Nothing in the Harrison creek area that we could see. It remains to be seen if they will even come back into this area again after all the fires. Might have to wait until december. We'll be back up in that country in a couple weeks and see what it's like then.
