    Default For those interested...

Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is again accepting orders for M1 Garands. They were unavailable (sold out) for awhile, but the Army has released a 'large' quantity (rumor says 110-120,000) M1's.

    Also available are M1 Carbines.

Ammunition and other items are available, also. I've shot the Greek Pyrkal HXP .30-06, and it shoots really well.

Eligibility is listed here, and it is WELL worth the effort to jump through the hoops to be eligible to purchase this surplus property.

I thoroughly enjoy my Garand. I hope the budget will stand the strain for a few more.....

Good info but correct me if I am wrong (and I hope I am), but I have to be in a shooting club. I meet all the other requirements but glancing through the list I havent been in highschool in about 18years. Any ideas on this one or am I reading it wrong?

    Default Affiliated Associations

If you go online to the CMP site, you'll see a link to the affiliated clubs that qualify you to purchase these items. I've attached a direct link to the Alaska clubs. There are a few National clubs, as well, one of the easiest to join is the Garand collector's association.

Hope this helps! Good stuff available. IF you buy a rifle from these folks, and it doesn't function, is missing or has busted parts, they WILL make it right. I don't know that you'll find a better warranty on new rifles with as little hassle (other than the logistics).
    Take 'er easy,

    Default GCA

The GCA also puts out a great quarterly magazine on the Garand. It alone is worth the membership if you have any interest in the Garand.

If you are now or have ever been in the military, you qualify as belonging to an affiliate.

    Default Actually,

If you've been in the military, it means that you won't have to fire 50 rounds for record in competition, and waives the firearms training requirement that non-vets/non-leo's have to perform prior to purchase.
Membership in the American Legion, VFW, and such DO qualify as 'affiliated clubs', also!
