Talking Trip Report - Whittier 8/11

Went out with Captain Jimmy on the "Sea Chase" yesterday. 6 pack charter scheduled thru Rob @ Whittier Boat and Tackle (Forum sponsor).

Mother-in-law caught 2 'butts; the big one was 56" (estimated 92 lbs) the other about 25lbs in the first hour. Those were the only two halibut in the boat all day.

Found some Silvers towards the end of the day and got about a dozen in the boat in ~2hrs. Caught and released a few pinks. Caught and kept one Sockeye (didn't even realize it was a sockeye until we got back to the pier).

Jim worked hard for us, and everyone had a good time and went home with a bunch of fish. A couple of the Coho were on the high side of 20lbs.

Water was very flat. 70 degrees and Sunny. Can't believe it for PWS. Sure was nice for in laws visiting from lower 48.

We've caught a few silvers in the mid to high teens for sure. Really nice fish for sure!

12 Silvers (yes in the mid teens and they are pretty big this year) in short order
6 Hali - couple of "gooduns"
rockfish galore - yes we fished less than 60 whenever possible

and yes - the water was amazing

Dem Silvers are everywhere out there - find a jump'r, be it a pink, chum, red or whatever and the silvers will show.
