Default flesh color in Pink salmon

I caught some pinks in the Susitna the other day and the big male had very pale, almost white flesh while the females were bright pink. Is that a normal difference between males and females, or do some pinks have lighter flesh? The fish were in very good condition.

Well the flesh color can vary some with the fishes diet. So they looked like they had been in the water about the same amount of time? I have found the pink flesh turns white very fast but don't know if male female has anything to do with it
