Thread: Sockeye on Moose Hunt

    Default Sockeye on Moose Hunt

Here's a kinda dumb question- I'll be moose hunting a lake above the Wood River in 17B Sept. 5th to 15th. We'll be toting some fishing gear. If we're able to hook up a sockeye or two, are they any good to eat that late in the run? I might be wrong but I think they'd be near dead by then.

    Thanks,
    Ed

Thats a little late for reds. There are more likly to be silvers around, but that depends on the area.

there will probably be some silvers but the red run is pretty much over now, the chance of catching one that would be good to eat is slim to none
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.
