I didn't fish inside the narrows but the silvers were getting close in good numbers last week. They should be getting inside the arm by now. I am counting on them being in close later in the week and heading back down. They were quite agressive and lots of fun.

    Default Update

They were in the Valdez Arm last weekend. They were jumping in Jack bay on Friday and almost to the Narrows. Got two and a king on Friday.

What speed is best when trolling? Is it different trolling for Kings than Silvers? Thanks, Rob

    Default 2 to 2.5

2 to 2.5 seems to work for me. No difference in speed for me.

    Getting closer!

    Talking Interesting return today

It was interesting returning to port today. At one point, from my seat to the bottom on the next wave trough, I would say I was 8-10 feet in the air. The wind almost blew me past the harbor entrance. It was easily the worst day I have ever had returning to port.

    Default Fishing report?

I heard that silvers were being caught in Valdez from shore already? Any word on fishing for silvers off A. Point or the city dock or near the ferry terminal?

I have been told by a guy I work with he caught 18 coho this weekend? He says he was fishing A Point for pinks and was told they were catching silvers near city dock. They went out there the next eveing and caught silvers.

I think he's full of crap...I think its too early? Any word from anyone actually in Valdez or someone else besides him that caught silvers? I think he miss id on his salmon?

    Thanks TSS

    Default Yes

They are near Jack Bay and maybe into the Narrows. Have not heard any reports of Allison Point or the dock yet. But out from Jack to Galena the action is hot.

    Default If

If they make it far enough into the port, Allison Point has been a regular spot for many fly fishermen.

Four RV Parks, Eagles is the closest to stores and has better facilities.

Bait, Hook Line and Sinker or the main grocery store.

Silvers shoul ne in the Narrows by now. I will be back out on Friday to see.

    Default Yesterday

I was out yesterday and got three. Still out near Jack and Galena. It was a bit slow, two females and one male. Also had a Ling Cod hit the rig as I was near shore. About 24" long, really pretty fish.

I will be out again on Sunday. Then heading to the Haul Road for ten days.

Jack bay is the first bay on the East as you are heading south out of the narrows. Galena bay is the next bay south of Jack.

Last night we caught 6 silvers is about 2 hours of trolling off Gold Creek. Looks like they are showing in the Port. Not too many other boats trolling off Gold Creek last night though.

I went down on the 4-5th and we went out to naked and never seen them so thick we must have cought 40-60 silvers we were throwing them back left and right only kept what got injured. We were even catching them on our halibut rigs off the bottom or lowering it.

I've never fished for silvers in Valdez, only for pinks and they're pretty thick at Allison Point. Do you guys think that there's a chance to get silvers from the Port?

    Yup.

I've caught many a silver from Allison point. Heard of folks catchin 'em from the docks, too. And I've trolled for 'em just off the small boat harbor. You can catch 'em, but it might be tough getting past the pinks.
