Default Best outfit or way for short term car rental in Anchorage?

My wife and I are going to fly up to Anchorage commercially and then we need to go to some sort of Shin-dig out on Fort Rich for a few hours. Then fly back that afternoon. So I don't want to spend forever messing around picking up or returning a rental car.
Any of you city folks have an idea?

The last time I called a taxi to { get back } to the airport in Los Anchorage, they took over an hour to show up. Missed the flight.

I use the bargain sites and go with the cheapest. Orbitz, or travelocity, or kayak, or _____ Even try their own websites. Everything else is the same- their counters are lined up next to each other, and the cars are right there in the parking garage.

Download the Uber & Lyft apps. Price your trips and decide if a rental is worth the hassle vs. curbside pickup/drop off. Less than $40 + tip each way. It should be less but they gouge like many things in AK compared to Outside.

RAVN totally hosed us on the tickets from Homer to Anchorage and back. WE could have flown from Anchorage to Seattle for the same. Ever since Grant pulled out of the local market, RAVN has been bending-over the Homer folks.

I do not think that the Base will let UBERs through the gate.

if JBER is same as FBK, then Uber/Lyft no different than taxis, the individual driver's gotta have a pass. Most do, some don't.

Try Turo. Some of them will bring the car to you and pick it back up at the airport.

With the caveat that I don't / haven't gone on base, I've had real good luck with Lyft and the Lyft app and it is cheaper than taxi (and an order of magnitude more convenient) if you don't need a car at the shin-dig.

I would loan you a vehicle for the day.
Pvt message me to get the ball rolling.

I recommend contacting whomever is having the shindig and confirm base access. They are serious about security on the bases.

I am retired military. Navy Active, Army res and Air Force res. I avoid going there. Enough was enough...

My wife crawled up my tail feathers until I finally pre-paid for a rental.

So thank you very much to the 3 or 4 folks who offered me a chance to borrow cars. She said I would probably just sit there and talk with you folks about flying and I would never go to the wedding in question.

And yes, it is true,,,, I would rather just sit around and talk flying with you...
