Default Fairbanks Fishing Options on foot

Hello everyone...I’m not asking for “the spot”, but the spots “everyone” already knows about would be great :-)

I’m in Fairbanks for work and had enough time to grab some gear, but I am limited to waders and road access.

Can anyone point me to locations for catch and release grayling or pike?

My current plan is to head out towards Chena Hot Springs and try some bank access options there.

Thanks for any info you feel like sharing!
(Have both fly rod and ultralight spinning gear)

Chena hot springs road, anywhere above mile 42 or so should have decent bank access. Take some bead head nymphs and dries and you should be set. As for Pike, lots of gravel pits in Fairbanks/North Pole have them, Pike with any size is gonna be a little harder. Bathing Beauty Pond just passed North Pole is a well known pike spot, also small stocked Rainbows are in there which can be fun on the fly. Tight lines

Thanks much - I’ll be trying a couple of those suggestions!

Reporting back...thanks for the tips! I can’t remember when I last caught so many grayling in one “session” that I lost count! I had a great night fishing the Chena. I now remember why people actually live there ;-)

glad you did well on the chena. I usually dont have to go that far up on the chena. Have not heard of bathing beauty pond, might have to give that a try, sadly cant fish this weekend,

Bathing Beauty...I don’t think we’re allowed to fish at the hot springs
