Default Where to get Bear Tanned?

We had a good spring so far with both my boys getting their first bears. I would like to get the hides tanned for them.

Where to you recommend I take the hides to get that done? (We live in ER)

    Thanks

Double up on this - Tundra Tanning does great work. Many other taxidermists their hides to Clint for him to tan.

I know the lady taxidermist there in ER (Along with multiple other taxis) sends all of her bears to Furwood Tannery in Soldotna. 262-0419

Dahlbergs Taxi always does top notch work! I think he’s booked up until 2020 or maybe just taking some time off. Can’t wait to get some game to him.

I'd ship it to Moyle's Tannery in Idaho. I ship all my hides there. Great quality, affordable prices.

I just got my 8’ 10” brown bear hide back from Moyles two days ago. I’m very happy with their service. Turned out great and they were very good to work with. I believe it took under two months from when I mailed it till when I got it back. I know they told me it would take 3 weeks for the process, called me when it started, and called me right at 3 weeks to tell me they were shipping it.
I was hoping to post some pics on my thread when I get some good pics of it.

How much was the shipping cost to ID? Was the hide frozen? Or fleshed an salted? Thanks

If I recall correctly it cost $106 to ship it thru the PO in a big carboard box. The hide had been cleaned up and salted by Kenny’s guys and I rolled it up tight with two ratchet straps and stuck it a plastic bag b4 putting it in the box. Postal folks appreciate not having salt or any ‘leakage’ of any kind out while in transit. I believe it weighed in at 44 pounds when shipped.
The return trip was $88 from Moyles. Plus the $315 to have the tan done.
Be aware there is a size ‘limit ‘ on the box u ship. Mine barely made the cut and the box was stuffed tight. Hence the straps. I didn’t think of the box size. It just happened to be the one I had. It would have sucked to have to find a new box and try to repack it.
