    Default Interesting Radar Screen

I had a radar mount made this winter for a Garmin Radar dome. Looked at the instructions for the radar unit, drilled mounting holes and bolted it in place and ran wires. Looks great on the boat! Finally on the water and fine tuning the thing and I noticed something funny. My wake was in front of the boat and the boats on my starboard were on the port side of the screen. ????Radar setup!! Well nothing in there could change it.

Looked at the Garmin directions. Nothing in there says "Front".

Oh well, unbolted it tonight and turned it 180 degrees. Next trip out, I better be seeing my wake behind me and the boats on the proper side of the screen.

Hillary moved to NY and I moved out.

When you returned to the harbor was it the day before you departed?

No but I got back to where I was from before I got to where I was going.

Radar is working much better turned 180 degrees. It just did not make sense, putting the wire connections to the front of the unit exposed to more weather. Oh, well. Garmin probably knows more than I do about making them.

    Daveinthebush,

I agree installing the radome with the wires facing foward does not make sense. I mounted ours with the wires facing the stern. I don't know if you have this model of Garmin mode radar/chart plotter, but check out this link from the Garmin support site:
    https://support.garmin.com/en-PH/?fa...ED99KShTlEKHf9

It talks about adjusting the radar display when it is 180 degrees off.

Thanks Doug. Yes it doesn't seem to make sense to have the wire connections forward. I will have to try the information in the link. I have a Garmin 4002. I tried the setup but when I did, found nothing to change. I'm not new to Garmins. Only difference between the two I have is one is a touch screen and the other is a push buttons. I will have to look again as the wires in the back makes more sense.
