Thanks! Doesn’t happen often to find them that clean. The other skull has a cool color from the soil it was in.

Be careful about posting pics of certain finds. Somewhere there is a bureaucrat digging through ivory possession rules.

Yup! That’s why one must be informed of the rules of keeping such finds as they vary from agency to agency as well as species and such. I am Native American but not Alaska Native and rest assured those and all the walrus tusks I’ve ever found are registered/tagged by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Besides bureaucrats dig....it seems to be their job.LOL

Some info below. To be sure though check with the local USFW office

I guy I went to the police academy with was a former Fed fish and game something or another from the east coast.
I still remember the last conversion I had with him when he said...

" You Alaskans have been running around up here doing whatever you like for far too long.
People like me have to come up here to put a stop to it."

He did not last long as a real cop.

Amazing skull- I would say you are lucky but I have a feeling your luck improves with practice looking! Beautiful find.

A brown bear guide friend of mine (God rest his soul) used to find a few skulls as well. And believe it or not he once found a dinosaur egg! He had it verified and was once offered $50k for it but declined. He planned on donating it to a museum but I don't know if he ever did before his passing...

I have found Native artifacts, and was told they aren't mine. Like h.e. double hockey sticks they ain't.

The mineralized skull/tusks are no doubt pre-MMPA. They are worth a lot even though they are stubby.
