    Default Slooooow

It is March 56th in Valdez, snow down to about 1,000 feet last night on the mountain in front of the house. Goats have moved back down to 1,500-2,000 foot level too. I pulled shrimp pots yesterday and the snow was acuminating on the windshield out and back. Could not of seen a bear on shore if I wanted too.

Bait barrels are on the boat waiting for it to stop raining and snowing. Latest I have ever put them in. It is just too cold and wet. Our town bears that usually come out on the first southern exposure are slow to show themselves. I think people have seen one. Raining almost ever day.

    Default went out friday

Was brown and chilly out there and not any life to be seen. The neighborhood Brown bear sow with 3 large cubs are raiding garbage cans but no black bears reported yet. Did come across 1 track but that's it. Maybe next weekend there will be more life out there.

Haven’t even bothered setting the stands out yet. Although did see one bear checking snow levels last Friday.

Well it is now March in Valdez. It looks like at my place, 10 miles out of town we received 18" of snow and still coming down hard. I doubt I can even get out of the drive.

10 mile area here too. Was planning on heading down to the boat today to soak some pots and look for bear, oh well.... should have picked up a bottle of Jameson yesterday when I was in town cause it’s more of a “sitting in front of the fireplace” kind of day.

I went to town and cleared the boat. They need it.

Spring is cooler here as well. A few lakes still have needle ice- was all gone by this time last year.
We put out bait yesterday, but I don't expect visitors for at least a week or two. My site is an 80 mile round trip from my house, and with gas prices continually going up, I won't be checking as often as I did last year. May have to camp at the trail head when I start getting hit.

Nothing in 7 as of yesterday. Still 2 feet of snow at the one site.

As I looked at the mountain side across the street from the house there is a single bear up about 1,500 feet working his way down the mountain.

If he's coming down, I'm not going up. Bears need exercise in the spring.
