    Default Leaving for Muskox Tomorrow!

Well it's finally here. I drew a Nunivak Island winter muskox tag last year and I fly out tomorrow morning. I'll report when I get a chance. Luckily it's supposed to be cold and really windy.....so I've got that going for me!

Good luck Brett...I'm sure you're in for a lifetime experience. I've been to Nunivak to do some work...it's pretty country and good people. Looking forward to hearing of your experiences. I'll find out in a few weeks if I'm doing this hunt next year.

I am working in Bethel for a while so if y'all get any downtime and need a ride, let me know.

Randy, where would you recommend for hotel/b&b in Bethel? We fly in evening of the 5th.

I'm not trying to preempt Randy, as I'm interested in what he recommends. I've been to Bethel ALOT, and the B&B options are...um...interesting. Cranberry B&B was always my first choice, but I believe they have recently moved to ANC. Another good choice for me was the Brown Slough B&B. Those two have always been good choices for me...beyond that, it gets...

Doc is right about places to stay around here. We had some guys come in for work last September and stayed the night at White House Bed & Breakfast. They said it was decent. The Hotel people stay at is the Longhouse. I don't really have much other experience in places to stay because I have my own house. Places to eat are Filli's for pizza and beer but they are closed on Monday's. Connie's has a good hamburger and skinny fries. Tundra and Aurora Sushi have goo Schezwan Beef that is spicy as the normal. Most places I have to order extra spicy. Cabs are $7 from the airport to anywhere in town.

I would second the Long House as probably the best hotel choice. Bentley's B&B is another option for B&B's. If pizza is your thing, Baba's is probably the best in town. No beer served there though but good pizza.

Don't kill all the big bulls! I don't go out till the 26th. I wanted less wind and sandy beaches when I go!

Right on! Sitting in Bethel right now, trying to fly to Mekoryuk. I have forgotten what travel is like in the bush. Time and schedules dont mean the same thing, nor do any useful updates.

Congrats Brett! Saw some pics elsewhere ... you should just be able to load them on here if your quota isn't full.
