    Default Freighter sleds built

Made a few freighter sleds last week and swapped another over to full uhmw running gear.
Hoping for snow on the Big Su drainage soon.

Those are some great looking sleds BK.
Love the front V part to keep it from getting stuck in the overflow.

    Nice looking sleds.
Reminds of a freight sled I had many years ago, it was all metal, with full length skis' and the tongue had attachment to skis tips and sled body.
Pedestal to ski slid in a bracket back and forth. I was really impressed how that sled absorbed the rough trails. Hauled many a load with the sled until it finally wore out. (It didn't help jumping and unseen ravine at thirty with 30 gals of fuel plus gear on it!) My bad! But in my defense: it was one of those either punch it or brake it split second decisions.
Do your sled's skis slide on the back mount of the skis to allow ski flexing? What is the advantage of the pedestal ski over the toboggan HPDM slab with runners?

    Pilot,
These skis do exactly as you describe. The ski rides the contour of the ground growing and shrinking, so to speak, which then pivots on the inverted "v" legs creating an extremely smooth ride. To watch one in action on a bumpy trail is amazing.

I can't take credit for the design, thats Larry Heater's. We have been using them and making improvements over the years and the uhmw full ski is the ticket. It connects to the tongue so it will not drop a ski under an ice ledge, log, alders, etc....and bring the rider to a sudden and abrupt stop. That hurts, a lot. Also makes them lighter as less steel is used.
Building an aluminum one soon but it will be made to haul weekend supplies. These steel trailers are made to haul fuel drums, lumber pkgs, and carry a load. They are perfect for the big su, yetna, alexander, cabin owners.
    Appreciate the compliments!

I like the looks of them.
What is a ballpark price for one of these sleds?
