Thread: Sale of Alaska Airports to Native Corporations?

Default Sale of Alaska Airports to Native Corporations?

I was at the pumpkin fly-out up the Kinik yesterday and a fellow from BIrchwood mentioned to me that the Governor’s office is considering selling a number of state airports to native corporations for ownership/management.

I’d like to hear more about that if anyone else has some source info? I don’t think we’d get a better deal as pilots than having the State as our landlord.

I am starting to think that doing the exact opposite of anything our current Governor wants to do,,,, is a better route.

This is completely untrue! Some organizations might be hired as managers of an airport but they are not being sold. Bad, incorrect rumor....

Wow. I think if it's at all possible every pilot should be on deck to show our opposition to this buffoonery.

Here is more information on the meeting. This may/or may not be a positive thing for birchwood in the long run. It will be a good time to bring up questions. Please not time limit at end of attachment.

I attended and so did many other people. Right now the main objective seems to be getting to know more about what is taking place between the state, the native corporation, and the FAA. There are others besides me that are more in the know as what has happened so far as I just returned from a trip and happened to be at Birchwood when the meeting took place. Looks like we will be communicating with each other thru mass email so will know more later. boneguy would know way more than I.
