Default Meat hanging in the field

Just trying to research some ideas for hanging meat while in the field. I have an elk hunt planned on Afognak island this September. I want to hang any meat up high and away from camp. Was thinking about using a block and tackle setup. Would like to hear others experiences or ideas about this topic.

Try your block and tackle out before hand. Had a friend that carried a small block and tackle around in his pack for 15 years. We finally were in a situation that we had big enough trees to give it a shot, and that thing just spun and twisted. Couldn't lift a half of a deer without binding up. Totally worthless.

Are there trees big enough? Not like you can pack some 2x6x12's in.

I have small block and tackle on my davit on my boat. It is about the size of a Copenhagen can with 3 pulleys and I can lift a 20 gallon poly but I have to pull pretty hard on it. It was a fairly cheap one I picked up in ANCH at Donolson's.

We're going to Afognak. I have no idea what the trees look or where exactly we will be hunting. This is my first trip out there.
