Default know your camera's detection zone

I bet it's how your camera's set up (not the sensitivity or your field of view - the footprint of your detection zone). Some camera's have a very narrow band or field of view, others its wide, some are short/long, oval, etc. I've seen some that were only two feet at best. In short, each camera's detection zone foot print is different. Click here for an article on various camera tests and scroll down for more information.

Some older camera's pale in comparison to what is available today. I had a one a few years ago that really confused me up (the one I mentioned above). I learned the lesson the hard way. Now I research the camera I use and test both zones at my bait site by having my hunting partner slowly walk the area I'm watching left to right and far to near to see when the camera triggers so the detection zone is set up right and I get everything I want on photo/video. Afterwards I delete the memory card and leave it alone. The good news is newer models are much better than the stuff you may have in your garage or under the house. I still use a few older cameras, other's I literally threw away.

For anyone interested here is a link for the 2017 camera shootout to see how your's compares. Hope this helps.

Mine scored number four. Pretty good. I get pictures way out, up close, left and to the right. In the middle. Birds flying in numerous different places on my pictures squirrels doing lots of things. It just seems real selective on when and what it takes a picture of bear wise.

Picture number 3 I don't believe is. I have probably a even number of boar and sow pictures.

Well I moved one the cameras closer and seemed to help getting more pics. Did get a bear that messed with the cam a bit but did no harm to it. Neither cameras our mine they're my buddies. Next season I'm gonna invest in a better one of my own cause most of my cams our outdated with today's technology. Either way pulled the bait out last night. Activity got real slow was down to one grizzly coming in, almost bagged him last night but didn't give me a bow shot.

    Jake,
Do you think that is a photo of my bear? Timing would be correct.

That's just before she winded us. She was shot a few minutes after this photo was taken.
