Thanks for the report. Sounds like it's still not picked up yet.

Sitting on the beach in Kenai. This is just stupid. Not my style of fishing at all, but need the meat. Someone needs to tell the salmon that I and several thousand of my closest friends are waiting.

1 net, zero fish for me. Very sporadic fish are being caught by other people who aren't me. The people never to me have 4 fish today with 4 nets.

It did look like this morning's tide was better, but I had to head back to town. I think today and tomorrow morning's tide would have been a better pick for days off, but it's all a guessing game planned before the fishing even starts. Such is life.

The plus side was warm, calm, and dry weather. This may have been the first trip I've done down there where I managed to stay completely dry the entire time.

My 12 year old and I fished from the north beach tonight for a little over a hour. Landed 3 between the 2 of us and each of us lost one.

8 hours, 2 nets today. 12 reds total. Didn't hear of anyone getting more than 12 in a single net, and that was only one guy.

I managed 14 within the first two hours of fishable water on the incoming 2pm high tide yesterday, then somebody hit the killswitch and i didnt get another one before I left at 3pm. It was sizing up to be an epic day at the rate I was catching them, but I suppose 14 isnt half bad for one net!

We fished from the boat from 0600-1600. 1 net for the first 45 minutes, then 2 nets the rest of the day. We caught 30 reds and threw back about 6 flounders.

For the most part, the boats were better behaved than last year (we were pretty close to 2 boats that capsized last year), but man...the people that are trying to dipnet and drive at the same time??? And the couple of guys that were in pretty good sized boats (like 20 footers) by them selves? Yeah, those guys keep you on your toes.

Very happy with the little fish cleaning station and ice sales right next to the dock. Great service there.

    See you next year Kenai.

Anyone else noticing that the in-river numbers thus far are about half the average in the last ten years?

Too much commercial pressure or are there just fewer fish overall?
