The belly looks pretty nasty. I guess that explains why he had to put her down... Too bad he snagged a wire.
Im glad he walked, but it still stinks for him and even worse for the owner.

A video somebody shot of the scene before it was recovered.
I'm trying to figure out why the dirty belly is such a big deal, unless I'm missing something. Every 207 I flew was at least that bad most of the time.
Because it looks like fresh leaked ( blown) oil, not old dirt. Plus the video above shows the damage incurred when the nose gear ripped along the bottom as it was being removed.
Incidental to the accident not the cause is what I see. I'm sure the trauma involved in ripping the nose gear off could have caused damage to other components inside the cowl as well.
It'll be interesting to read the NTSB report when it's completed.
