I saw an article in the Peninsula Clarion where the Kenai Chamber of Commerce will start a Silver derby
this September.
the last derby I remember was held in 1996.
Lots of pressure with boats parked every where.
Soon there after F&G reduced the bag limit to ONE fish using single hook artificial lure only.
I remember several guides taking their clients to Seward as who wanted to pay for the chance at ONE fish.
I believe the same will happen.
I spoke with Brian Marston area fish biologist and he felt maximum pressure was being applied without having a derby BUT no permit was needed to hold a derby.
No one knows the numbers of Silvers needed to maintain sustanable yield as these fish are not counted.
Your thoughts ?
