Sheep hasn't been sealed yet but looks to be 9 year old. Shade over 36" on the good side. Sheep were down pretty low in the grasss, seemed the overly wet fall may have pushed them down a bit. Two shots one at about 150 and one at about 10' when it stood up. Grizzly was 250 yards, one shot. Rained a lot. Again.

38 grizzly spotted so far this season. Typically average about 4 dozen over the last decade plus. I have one more grizzly hunt them
I'm off to kodiak for goats/bear/deer.

Grizzly spotted this year on my interior hunts.
Just got home from a short weather restricted trip. Delayed two days getting into camp and lots of fog and rain while we were there. We did see three grizzlies in the two days we hunted and got lead into one of them but were unable to recover it. No one likes that but it occasionally does happen. Headed to Kodiak for goats here in a week or so, brown bear and then a deer hunt.

Goat hunt number two is done. Got a 9”
Billy on day three. We sustained winds near a hundred for almost three days, goat activity was screwed up because of this, built rock walls around the tent. As we loaded the plane a bear moved in and took over our campsite. At 50 yards we loaded the plane and kept an eye on the bear. Fearless little three year old, hoping it’s not around for the next goat hunt next week!!
    Pictures to follow.

Last of three goat hunts is completed. A father son duo from the flat country of the lower 48 took on Kodiak alders and rock slides, howling winds, sideways snow, sub freezing temps. With a less than favorable forcast looming and a beautiful 10”+ nanny at 140 yards we decided she was pretty enough to be fostered to a new home in Nebraska! One shot shopping and a great old nanny posed for some pictures.
    Two hunts left then surgery....goody.

Headed back to Kodiak and Deer/bear camp this Saturday. Have three total deer hunters and one of them has a brown bear tag. Weather forcast looks good. Which as we’ll know means nuthin.

Well got the first of two deer hunts done. Grass was tall, very very tall. Making the deer very hard to find at lower elevations. We still averaged over 30 deer sightings each day, the hunter was able to take both his Deer about a hundred yards apart on separate days. We looked for a bear but lack of a silver run in our local stream seemed to attribute to low bear activity. We saw 9 but all three of the loners were rubbed bad or to small or both.

Last hunt of the season is wrapped up. Father and son from TN came up and stacked some deer on the ground. Four deer in two days and we had a great time. Good people in a great place.

2017 season is in the books. Gear is put away all the checks have been written for this season and am in the process of prepping for ‘18 already.
We ended this year with 1 wolf, 2 Black bears, 7 grizzlies, 2 Sheep, 3 goats and 6 Deer. There was only one hunt that we didn’t get a shot at a big game animal. All but one hunter saw their target specie. 2018 is booked up, 2019 is mostly booked and Sheep hunts are booked thru 2020. Thanks to everyone who invested their time and money this season into my business and my family, we very much appreciate it. Drop me a line anytime if anyone has questions are are interested in a hunt with black river hunting camps llc.
