Spent some time in the gun shop today shouldering various rifles. Preferred the grip on the stock of the Kimber Montanan of the Kimber Hunter. In all honesty though, I did not care for the Kimber rifles though. Every time I shouldered them I felt like I was searching for the correct cheek placement. I was impressed with the feel of the Tikka T3 super light though. The most comfortable gun to shoulder I found was a weatherby vanguard but it was noticeably heavy compared to the Tikka.

Hard to beat a Win 70 Extreme Weather. Great action, great stock, multiple calibers...

If another caliber is desired, then the old 30-06 might be a good solution. I have one in a Weatherby Vanguard and a Model 700 SPS. Sold a 30-06 Xbolt to a coworker a few weeks ago. My first love for Alaska is the 338 Win Mag but the 30-06 is versatile and worked well for me and my co-worker back in December when we both took caribou with my 168 grain TTSX handloads. The 30-06 runs about one pound lighter than my 338s.

Bought Tikka T3x SL in 30.06 a couple days ago. I plan to hang a Luepold 2.5-8 off of it. I think I will be very happy with this rifle. Thanks to everyone for their input.
