Thread: Bull down

  1. #1

    Default Bull down

Managed to take a decent bull on my 4th day hunting this fall. I passed a young bull on the second day in hopes for something bigger, and found this guy moving up a dry slough channel just before 8pm on the 21st. A 100 yard shot with the 30-06 and he was down in less than 40 yards. My buddy shot a bull the day before, so we had a nice load of meat hanging in camp.

Off on Friday to Delta for my daughters bison hunt, and we still have a few caribou tags waiting to be cut. Off to a good start with filling the freezer this year.

Nice! That's excellent that it worked out for both of you. Good luck with the bison this weekend!

Jerod what brand of game bags are you using? They look like they might be silk? This year I got my moose on my birthday. He was a handsome 45" with 5 tines on his right and 4 on his left. I am a happy camper!
    By the way, nice photos.

Those are TAG bags by Pristine Ventures, I picked them up at Sportsman's in Fairbanks. They are a synthetic material I believe and wash up real well. They help pull the moisture off the meat, but they are thin and can tear easy, so you have to be careful with them. Congrats on your moose, Diane!

Thanks for the good luck on the bison hunt, she drew high enough to get opening weekend, so we'll hopefully get down there and make it happen opening day! She plans to use the same '06 that I shot this moose with. With the muzzle break and the limbsaver pad, it kicks less than my .243. She shoots it very well for a ten year old. Would you suggest hitting the Panoramics on opening day?
