    Default Aurora

    Couple questions:
Where is a good spot to view the Aurora near anchorage? Parents are coming to town from lower 48 and don't want to travel super far to view.

What settings should I use to try and capture it?

A descent resource is here. Many of the images if you click on the exif data (if they did not remove it) and take note. Pay attention to shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. If you camera allows it I have had best results shooting in RAW with the tungsten option for white balance.

Set your focus at infinity or zoom in on a bright star, amplify it on your screen and focus it to sharpen. There are a ton of good reads on the net as well.

    Good luck,

    Bruce
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

Awesome. Thanks for the help Bruce. If I get any pictures I'll post them.
