    Default Yamaha F40 jet

So I am researching and wanting to buy one but am confused about something. The local dealers want $7000.00 for this set up but I see 3 different sites online that are selling them for $2600-3000.00 plus shipping. What am i missing?? I was just told about an issue a few years ago where people were getting burned buying engines online saying that they were cheaper made. Is this the case? Looks like the same part #'s and specs...

    Thanks!
    Steve

Sounds a little fishy to me too. I know that there are a few online dealers that sell outboards and offer to ship them, however, your freight costs are going to be pretty high I suspect. Also, sometimes in the fine print on the website it discloses where they can and cannot sell outboards. Sometimes their dealer agreement with Yamaha is for a particular region. Be careful and read everything.
Personally, an outboard is too big of and investment for me to cut too many corners on. I prefer to be able to get my hands on the throat that sold me the POS anchor. Haha, haven't had to worry about that with Yamaha though.

Why don't you just call or email those sites with your questions and get it straight from the horses mouth...I much prefer a call over email. Have all your questions written down in advance. Some online dealers will only ship tiller models under a certain horse power..no remotes. Let us know what you find out. Good luck!

    Here's one Steve

That was a quick google search to find that. After posting that here then poking around their site, this outfit is in Indonesia. So add crazy shipping and customs taxes as well I would assume. There goes any savings!
