I went up the Susitna about a month ago with Mahays. It was a fun trip. We stayed near the middle of the river and had no problems in a 40' jet boat. The tour went all the way to devil canyon over 50 miles. Great trip. I thought about trying it next year.

I think you get into airboat country real fast. I know a few guys who have airboated it. the word is they see jets go a short ways and puke out.

I've been up there three times and only saw one airboat and he was high and dry.

Anyone have any experience running down the big su heading south towards the Tyone. Would the 17' flat bottom with the 50horse jet have any issues going that away

I don't think you will have any problem going down...........getting back may be a problem. There a area called mile wide the water can get very thin.
