Default Using the Garmin BlueChart g2 Vision VUS517L charts?

Was thinking Id like to have better charts in the Garmin, if your using these are they substantially better than the pre-loaded charts?
    Thanks in advance.

Unless your Chartplotter is pre-loaded with Bluecharts, then yes, way better. The Bluecharts G2 are pretty good for the money. The Vision charts are quite a bit more and I think the only difference is that the Vision has Satellite imagery. I don't find them that useful unless hunting or trying to enter a shallow river or something. Just make sure you get the right charts for your area. I've found the spot depths and rock markers to be pretty accurate.

    Another thing I learned:

If you buy the charts on an SD card, they will work on that SD card in any compatible Garmin Chartplotter.

If you buy the downloadable charts, you have to input the serial # on your chartplotter, and they will work on any card, but only on that chartplotter unless they are tied together by Garmin network.
