Default Tips and tricks, Pulling a ATV out of a deep mud hole.

When you need to be pulled back out of a deep mud hole the best spot to attached a cable is next to the trailer ball, buried deep into the mud. If you don't want to get wet add a strong 4-6 foot cable that you can get to with out getting wet.

I also added a cable to the front of a couple of ATV that did not have any spot to attached a tow cable to the center so you will not be pulled to the side as you are going back to the road.

Big winch and single part shiv to double pull. Some thing to hook winch line to, like a tree or a dead man buried in the mud. A shovel to dig out with and an ax to cut logs to put under tires.

Best of all is a buddy that can tie his machine off and winch on your machine while you are winching too.

Can't remember if if was on this forum or another, but someone suggested carrying 5 pieces of rebar and weaving your winch line or tow strap through them in a star pattern to winch off in areas with no trees. Other folks have recommended boat anchors or pull pal's for those areas without winches.

Once got the Rhino stuck good in a mud pit, had to let all the winch out to the little Honda 350, then all it's winch out to a couple tow straps to a tree. Was glad to have a second machine with a winch that time, the Honda wasn't going to budge it on it's own.
