    Question Alcohol Stoves

Anyone out there using lightweight alcohol stoves. Just wondering how they fare compared to the iso-mix canister stoves. White gas is my preference, but when it comes to counting ounces....

I've always understood that the advantages of alcohol stoves were the reduced explosion risk and reduced toxic fume output. That's why they're popular in boat galleys. The disadvantage is reduced BTU output, not only for the fuel but for the stove as well because of burner design. I wouldn't consider an alcohol stove a substitute for a white gas stove for general field use.

    Default diethylene glycol

    Hi,

I use Diethylene Glycol stoves. They do a good job and pack in well. They are also cheap.
